A Pair of Arrests Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack
Two more people have been arrested related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport where 21 people were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.
A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.
These detentions come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.
A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.
Police detained a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault close to the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.
Police were called at about 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.
The attack - which police said was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
